2018 Parade of Homes Judge’s Award of Excellence & People’s Choice Award
Nearly 70 years ago, Frank Stick purchased 2600 acres of land, and fervently constructed small beachside bungalows of his own design. Representative of the modernist trend of the time, these iconic structures became “Flattops.” Fewer and fewer remain today.
“The Dunetop” hearkens back to these indigenous Outer Banks designs of Southern Shores. Sweeping overhangs, weaved corner lap siding, and a blend of Brazilian Walnut emphasize the strong horizontal presence of the home. Inside, local salvaged Cypress Beams, and Juniper tongue and groove share the space with contemporary Walnut cabinetry, Quartz Counters, subtle Tile tones and White Oak flooring, completing the hand hewn feel our craftsman worked tirelessly to create.
While taking its design cues from the past, “the Dunetop” shirks none of its responsibility showcasing new building technology, featuring an inverter Bosch Heat Pump with Trane ERV, Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation, Home Automation and Security System, and one of our favorite features: not one light bulb, due to the integrated LED lighting.
Open concept living at its best, we invite you to see this one level handicap accessible permanent residence, and share in our take on an Outer Banks legacy design.
